Honeysuckle Nights

Rose Filled Days

The air has been heavy these past few days and nights keeping the fragrance of the spring blossoms low and close.
In the cool mornings, as I step out I am greeted by the romantic fragrance of the roses surrounding our house.

Most especially fragrant is the Memorial Day rose.

This year, all of the rose bushes are blooming in such abundance as if it were their last song – giving it their all.

Even after a light rain – the moist, clean air mingles the fragrances to an incomparable perfume.

Surrounding our home and this small town, where once the air was filled with the fragrance of the wisteria, the Honeysuckle vines have added their special flavor to the scent of the air.

Most especially at night – does the fragrance of the Honeysuckle seem hauntingly sweet – these all tempt one to remain outdoors both day and night.

I wish we used our sleeping porch – as it was meant to – to open all the surrounding windows to sleep in slumber that is enhanced by the gentle fragrance of the night. Perhaps one day.

Until then, I bring indoors a few of the blossoms to add fragance to the rooms of our homes – this bouquet is set near the door that when one enters one would think they were still outdoors in the mingled fragrance of the rose and the honeysuckle.
