I try not to have favorites in my flower garden. But, if truth be told, I so look forward to the arrival of my Peonies each spring.
Anticipation...
I was first introduced to Peonies while we lived in the Midwest some 20 years ago. I didn't obtain any Peony bushes, however, until we moved to the South. Peonies prefer cooler weather, but I am very thankful they seem to be doing quite well here. I can attest to their reputation of punishing it’s owner for moving them. Peonies truly like to be left alone. I was wondering if they would survive our move several years back. Over the past couple of years each bush would only produce one to three blooms.
Peony's numerous petals and delicate shape is artwork itself.
But this year, my breath has been taken away. Each bush seems to be giving me it's very best.
Perhaps it was due to the marvelously cold winter and to the amount of rain we received, but this year my Peonies bushes are full of blooms.
